Soccer Without Borders

Leading up to the men’s FIFA World Cup 2026, Soccer Without Borders wanted to highlight their work creating a sense of belonging for youth.

THE CHALLENGE

Soccer Without Borders (SWB) wanted press stories in specific media markets to highlight their work creating spaces and programs where young people — particularly girls and immigrant and refugee youth — feel welcome and supported through the game of soccer leading up to the men’s FIFA World Cup 2026. Our work coincided with daily immigration raids and federal funding cuts targeting “DEI”-serving organizations, and we needed to prioritize showcasing what SWB offers while staying apolitical.

THE SOLUTION

We developed highly refined messaging that showcased SWB’s work creating safe, cost-free spaces where youth can play soccer and build life skills that they’ll use long after their time on the field. Our messaging balanced sensitivity to the families impacted by threats from ICE without making immigration a focal point in the stories we pitched. Instead, pitches focused on the impact of SWB’s programs and how they’ve made a difference in the lives of children and families.

THE IMPACT

We secured media placements in the client’s priority markets including Baltimore, the Bay Area, Boston and Denver in both English and Spanish and across print, TV and podcast formats. This included a piece on the front page of the Boston Globe. The press pieces provided the client with content they could re-purpose for their own digital content, fundraising efforts and board engagement.
